Comparison of primary school, secondary school and university students attitude toward physical education and sports

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and compare primary school, secondary school, and university students' attitude toward physical education and sport in the central districts of Ankara. A total of 1876 students, 376 female and 415 male students at the eighth grade of primary school, 321 female and 322 male students at the first grade of high school and 235 female and 207 male college students took part in the research. Attitude Scale of Physical Education and Sports developed by Demirhan and Altay (2001), and which co-vers a total of 24 articles, was used. In the data analysis Two WayANOVA for Independent Groups and Tukey tests were used. According to the findings, the mean attitude results of whole groups were rather high, and the mean attitude results of the university students were significantly higher than those of the eighth grade primary school students and the first grade high school students. Bu araştırma, Ankara'nın merkez ilçelerindeki ilköğretim, ortaöğretim ve üniversite düzeyinde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin beden eğitimi ve spora ilişkin tutumlarını saptamak ve karşılaştırmak amacıyla toplam 1876 öğrenci (ilköğretim 8. sınıfında öğrenim gören 376 kız, 415 erkek; lise birinci sınıfta öğrenim gören 321 kız, 322 erkek; üniversitede öğrenim gören 235 kız, 207 erkek) üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tutumların ölçülmesi için Demirhan ve Al-tay (2001) tarafından geliştirilen 24 maddeden oluşan Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Tutum ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, ilişkisiz gruplar için Bağımsız gruplar için iki Yönlü Varyans Analizi ve Tukey testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre, tüm grupların tutum puanları ortalaması oldukça yüksek bulunmuştur. Üniversite öğrencilerinin tutum puanları ortalaması, ilköğretim sekizinci sınıf ve lise birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin tutum puanları ortalamasından daha yüksektir ve anlamlı derecede farklıdır. Grup toplamında ise kız ve erkek öğrencilerin tutum puanları arasında erkek öğrenciler lehine anlamlı farklılık bulunmaktadır (p< 0.05).
