Abstract

Death is an all-pervasive and significant part of the culture. It is not simply a physical event, rather its nature and patterns are shaped by societal factors. The experience of death in Modern and Postmodern societies is seen as qualitatively different from the one in previous societies. The first step towards Modern representations of death was locating the causes of death within the body. So deaths in modern industrial societies occur as a result of body’s disease.
