The Sociological Perspective of Cavit Orhan Tutengil

Abstract

In this article, it is dwelled on sociological perspective of Cavit Orhan Tutengil (1921-1979) who is one of the leading sociologists of the Turkish sociology. It can be said that some results of scientific studies of Tutengil are maintaining their validity today. One of the forward speciality of sociological perspective of Tutengil is insight to answer to the concrete social requirements of Turkish society. Tutengil, when he was alive, emphasized to determine the national science agenda to find a way out and condense in particular and he made studies in this direction. In his studies, it is seen that he puts equal emphasis either upon theoretical and practical dimensions in order to form an integrity

Özet

Bu makalede 1980 öncesinde Türk sosyolojisinin önde gelen sosyologlarından biri olan Cavit Orhan Tütengil'in (1921-1979), çalışmaları ve sosyoloji anlayışı üzerinde durulmaktadır. Tütengil'in bilimsel çalışmalarından çıkardığı bazı sonuçların günümüzde de geçerliliğini sürdürmekte olduğu söylenebilir. Tütengil'in sosyolojisinde öne çıkan özelliklerden biri, Türk toplumunun somut ihtiyaçlarına cevap verme anlayışıdır. Tutengil, yaşadığı dönemde, Türk sosyolojisinin öncelikle üzerine eğilmesi ve çözümler üretmesi gereken ulusal bilim gündemini saptamaya önem vermiş ve bu doğrultuda çalışmalar yapmıştır. Çalışmalarında hem teorik hem de pratik boyutlara eşit önem vererek bir bütünlük kurmaya çalıştığı görülmektedir.
