Exploring Senior Nursing Students’ Perspectives on Cloning

Hemşirelik Son Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Klonlamaya Bakış Açılarının Keşfedilmesi

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the perspectives of a group of students studying in the senior year of the nursing department on cloning. The data of this qualitative study was obtained from the students (n: 14) in a health school located in a city center with easy access sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods. During the data collection process, a semi-structured interview form, one of the types of interview technique, was prepared by the researchers. The interview form, which was limited to six questions, was given to the students in writing and they were asked to answer in writing at the same time. Descriptive analysis technique was used in analyzing the data. In line with the obtained data, themes were created in the form of a humanistic, empathic and ethical perspective, usefulness and the principle of non-harm. It is thought that students cannot fully explain their empathic and ethical approach and they need support in these areas. Participants evaluate the implementation and risks of cloning studies in line with the principles of usefulness and non-harm. However, it is thought-provoking that students keep their views on the principle of usefulness limited and emphasize the principle of doing no harm due to its risks.

Özet

Çalışma, hemşirelik bölümü son sınıfında öğrenim gören bir grup öğrencinin klonlama konusundaki bakış açılarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Kalitatif özellikte olan bu çalışmanın verileri amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden kolay ulaşılabilirlik örneklemesi yöntemi ile bir il merkezinde yer alan sağlık yüksekokulundaki öğrencilerinden (n:14) elde edilmiştir. Veri toplama sürecinde araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanmış ve görüşme tekniği türlerinden olan yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Altı soru ile sınırlı tutulan görüşme formu öğrencilere yazılı olarak verilmiş ve aynı anda yazılı olarak cevaplandırmaları istenmiştir. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde betimsel analiz tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda hümanistik, empatik ve etik bakış açısı, yararlılık ve zarar vermeme ilkesi şeklinde temalar oluşturulmuştur. Öğrencilerin empatik ve etik yaklaşımı tam olarak açıklayamadıkları ve bu alanlarda desteklenmeye ihtiyaçları olduğu düşünülmektedir. Katılımcılar klonlama çalışmalarının uygulanmasını ve risklerini yararlılık ve zarar vermeme ilkeleri doğrultusunda değerlendirmektedir. Fakat öğrencilerin yararlılık ilkesi ile ilgili görüşlerini kısıtlı tutmaları ve riskleri nedeniyle zarar vermeme ilkesini ön plana çıkarmaları düşündürücüdür
