THE SCULPTURE WORKS IN THE ACMONIA ANCIENT CITY

Abstract

In this study, an iconographic and stylistic analyses of the three pieces of sculpture works, which are todayexhibited in the Afyon Museum, found in the Acmonia Ancient City (Usak province, Banaz county, Ahat ofthe village), in the region of Phrygia were carried out. These works consist of the torso of a dressed woman,a dressed woman statue, and the torso of an armored emperor. These three sculpture works belong to theRoman period as well. These works found in this city give some important clues about the sculpture of thecity. In this respect, introduction of these sculpture works may contribute notably to the scientific world.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, Phrygia Bölgesinde yer alan antik Akmonia kentinde (Uşak ili, Banaz ilçesi, Ahat köyü)bulunan ve bugün Afyon Müzesinde sergilenen üç adet heykeltıraşlık eserinin ikonografik ve stilistikanalizi yapılmıştır. Bu eserler; giyimli kadın torsosu, giyimli kadın heykeli ve zırhlı imparator torsosundanoluşmaktadır. Bu üç eser de Roma dönemine aittir. Kentte bulunmuş olan bu eserler kentin heykeltıraşlığıhakkında ufak da olsa bir fikir vermektedir. Dolayısıyla bu heykeltıraşlık eserlerini tanıtmak bilim dünyasınaönemli bir katkı sağlayacaktır.
