Abstract
In this study, both the internal and the external foreign trade balance developments of European Union's member countries are compared with their non-membership foreign trade positions. After being a member of the union, the countries concentrated on the union member countries more in foreign trade compared to the countries on which they used trade more economically before the membership. As a result, they indicated a tendency toward the balancing foreign trade among themselves. And European Union countries increased their export over import ratios against the world over time. In general, the member countries have faced trade surplus against industrial blocks and they have faced trade deficit against less developed blocks as the union as a whole. Because, the member countries are more repetitive in modern industrial products compared to the other developed blocks, but they are less competitive in traditional Industries compared to the AFTA (Asean Free Trade Area) members. Moreover, the countries import goods from developing countries, which are rarely found or are not found at all in the continent, but these goods are not signiflcant enough in terms of the trade volume in view of the member countries.
Özet
Bu çalışmada Avrupa Birliği (AB) ülkelerinin üyelik sonrası iç ve dış ticaret dengesi gelişmeleri üyelik öncesiyle karşılaştinlmıştir. Ülkelerin AB'ye girmeleriyle dış ticaretlerini Birlik üyesi ülkelere yoğunlaştırmaları sonucu üye ülkelerle olan dış ticaretlerinde ihracatlarının ithalatlarını karşılama oranlarında dengeye doğru bir eğilim saptanmıştır. AB üyelerinin diğer ülkelere yönelik ihracatlarının ithalatlarını karşılama oranlarını zamanla artırdıkları da bu çalışmada görülmektedir. Genelde, üye ülkeler gelişmiş bloklarla ticaretlerinde fazla, az gelişmiş bloklarla ticaretlerinde açık vermektedirler. Buna neden olarak modern sanayi dallarında Birlik üyesi ülkelerin diğer gelişmiş bloklara karşın bir rekabet üstünlüğünün bulunması, fakat, diğer taraftan da geleneksel sanayi dallarında AFTA (Asya Serbest Ticaret Bölgesi) ile karşılaştırıldığında rekabetinin zayıf olması gösterilebilir. Birlik, gelişmekte olan ülkelerden toplam ticaretlerinde değerce fazla öneme sahip olmayan fakat Birlik sahasında üretimi az veya hiç bulunmayan mallan ithal etmektedir.
