Solvent Exposure as a Rare Cause of High Fever, Headache and Loss of Conciousness: A Case Report

Abstract

High fever and infection perhaps form the most important part of hospital admissions. It was stated that the malepatient (35) who came to hospital with the complaints of weakness, vertigo, headache, blurred vision, loss of con- sciousness and high fewer was exposed to solvent smoke which was used as chemical solvent in an indoor area. Noreason to explain the loss of consciousness and high fever was found in laboratory tests and physical examination foretiology of the patient. Clinicians should take solvent poisoning into account during the differential diagnosis as highfever and confusion can emerge after solvent exposure, rarely though.

Yüksek ateş ve enfeksiyon tablosu hastaneye müracaatların belki de en önemli kısmını oluşturmaktadır. KırıkkaleYüksek İhtisas Hastanesi Acil Servise halsizlik, baş dönmesi, baş ağrısı, bulanık görme, bilinç bulanıklığı, yüksekateş şikayetleri nedeniyle gelen 35 yaşındaki erkek hastanın kapalı bir ortamda kimyasal çözücü olarak kullanılansolvent dumanına maruz kaldığı öğrenildi. Hastanın etiyolojiye yönelik fizik muayene ve laboratuvar tetkiklerindebilinç bulanıklığı ve ateşi açıklayacak neden saptanamadı. Solvent maruziyeti sonrası nadiren de olsa yüksek ateş vebilinç bulanıklığı gelişebileceğinden klinisyenler solvent zehirlenmesini ayırıcı tanıda düşünmelidir.
