Evaluation of Safety Culture Perception of Workers in the Electricity Distribution Sector: VEDAŞ Application

Abstract

Occupational safety culture has gained prevalence in international systems in recent years and it has been understood that it has a priority within the corporate culture. The research was carried out in order to determine the opinions of the employees in the electricity distribution sector in Muş Provincial Directorate and its districts, Bitlis Provincial Directorate and its districts and Van province about the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) culture and to measure the level of OHS culture Questionnaire method was used in the research and IBM SPSS.20 software was used for statistical analysis. The survey was conducted in the form of face-to-face interviews with 296 employees between July - December 2020. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistical methods, Kruskal Wallis test and correlation method were used. It has been determined that there is a significant difference between the education level of the electricity sector employees and the experience of the electricity sector employees in this field and the OHS culture scale, but no significant difference has been found for age. Significant differences were found between those working in Muş province and Bitlis, and employees in Bitlis showed a better safety culture result. The highest correlation was found between the OHS specialist safety leadership scale and the manager safety leadership scale. The safety culture scale only showed a positive significant correlation between the manager safety leadership scale and the OHS expert safety leadership scale.

İş güvenliği kültürü son yıllarda uluslararası sistemlerde yaygınlık kazanmış ve kurum kültürü içinde öncelikli olduğu kavranmıştır. Araştırma, Muş il Müdürlüğü ve ilçeleri, Bitlis il Müdürlüğü ve ilçeleri ile Van ilinde yer alan elektrik dağıtım sektöründe çalışanların İş Sağlığı ve Güvenliği (İSG) kültürü hakkındaki fikirlerini tespit etmek ve kültürü seviyesinin ölçülmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada anket yöntemi kullanılmış ve istatistiksel analiz için IBM SPSS.20 yazılımından faydalanılmıştır. Anket 296 çalışan ile yüz yüze görüşme şeklinde 2020 yılı Temmuz-Aralık ayları arasında yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde istatistiksel yöntemlerden tanımlayıcı istatistik yöntemleri, Kruskal Wallis testi ve korelasyon yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Elektrik sektörü çalışanlarının eğitim durumu ve elektrik sektörü çalışanlarının bu alandaki tecrübeleri ile İSG kültür ölçeği arasında anlamlı bir fark oluşturduğu tespit edilmiştir fakat yaş için anlamlı bir fark bulunamamıştır. Muş ili ve Bitlis ili çalışanlar arasında anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur ve Bitlis ilindeki çalışanların daha iyi bir güvenlik kültürünün olduğu görülmüştür. En yüksek korelasyon İSG uzmanı emniyet liderlik ölçeği ve yönetici güvenlik liderlik ölçeği arasında bulunmuştur. Güvenlik kültür ölçeği sadece yönetici güvenlik liderlik ölçeği ve İSG uzmanı emniyet liderlik ile ölçeği pozitif anlamlı korelasyon göstermiştir.
