MUHASEBE EĞİTİMİNDE TABLOLAMA (EXCEL) UYGULAMASININ ÖĞRENCİ BAŞARISI ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ

Abstract

Ever increasing use of computers has been reshaping the education in universities. The purpose of this study is to measure the effect of Excel spreadsheet applications on the academic performance of the students in the financial accounting course. In this study, Bilkent University Faculty of Business Administration students grades in Financial Accounting course between 2005-2008 (before Excel application) and 2009-2013 (after Excel application) academic years were compared. According to the independent t-test results based on 1.741 observations, we conclude that the academic performance of the students in this course is significantly and positively different after the use of Excel.

Özet

Yaygınlaşan bilgisayar kullanımı her alanda olduğu gibi üniversite eğitimini de artarak etkilemektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, muhasebe dersinde tablolama (Excel) uygulamasının öğrencilerin dersteki akademik başarısı üzerindeki etkisini ölçmektir. Çalışmada, Bilkent Üniversitesi İşletme Fakültesinde Finansal Muhasebe dersini alan 2.sınıf öğrencilerinin 2005-2008 (Excel uygulaması öncesi) ve 2009-2013 (Excel uygulaması sonrası) dönemlerindeki sınav notları karşılaştırılmıştır. Toplam 1.741 öğrenciye ait veri seti için yapılan bağımsız t-testi sonuçlarına göre, Excel kullanımından sonra, öğrencilerin muhasebe dersindeki akademik başarısında anlamlı ve pozitif düzeyde bir farklı- lık meydana gelmiştir.
