Women and Mosque Education from The Period of The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) to the Present Day

Abstract

The main social body of the mosque education in the period of the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) consisted of all Muslims without discriminating child, young, old, male and female. But, in present day, it is seen that while the male congregation has been receiving the common religious education through sermons and discourses given in mosques to a significant extend, women have not been able to receive the same education sufficiently to benefit from it. Today, it is important to eliminate this lack in the field of religious services to make the religious education surrounding the entire society without any discrimination. The aim of this article examining the concerns of the Muslim women from the period of the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) to the present day is to make simple contributions in re-evaluating the mental obstacles before the women who are not benefiting enough from the religious education in mosques. In this article, some proposals have been developed to gain the women that are forming half of the society to the mosque education.

Hz. Peygamber döneminde cami eğitiminin hedef kitlesi çocuk, genç, yaşlı, kadın ve erkek ayrımı gözetilmeksizin bütün Müslümanlardan oluşuyordu. Günümüzde ise, erkek cemaatin camilerde sunulan hutbe, vaaz ve diğer etkinlikler yoluyla önemli ölçüde yaygın din eğitimi hizmeti aldığı, ancak kadınların cami eğitiminden yeterince yararlanamadığı görülmektedir. Din hizmetleri alanındaki bu eksikliğin giderilerek cami eğitimini kadın-erkek, genç-yaşlı ayrımı yapılmaksızın toplumun tamamını kuşatacak bir özelliğe kavuşturmak son derece önemlidir. Hz. Peygamber döneminden itibaren kadınların camilerle ilgisinin incelendiği bu makalenin amacı, günümüzde Müslüman kadınların camilerde sunulan eğitim imkânlarından yeterince yararlanamamalarının önündeki fikrî engellerin yeniden değerlendirilmesine mütevazı bir katkı sağlamaktır. Makalede toplumun yarısını oluşturan kadınların cami eğitimine kazandırılmasına yönelik bazı öneriler geliştirilmiştir.
