CHANGE IN ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING ENVIRONMENT AND DETERMINATION OF PROFESSIONAL SOFTWARE USAGE IN ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING EDUCATION

MUHASEBE VE DENETİM ÇEVRESİNİN DEĞİŞİMİ VE BU ALANLARIN ÖĞRETİMİNDE MESLEKİ YAZILIM KULLANIMININ TESPİT EDİLMESİ

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the usage of professional software in accounting and auditing education in programs established to educate future accountants and auditors. Data collection method used in this study consists of examination of the curricula published by the relevant departments of the universities’ web pages and course content. The collected data were analyzed by frequency and percentage analysis methods. The universe of this research constitutes undergraduate departments which contain accounting word in the department's name in the 2018 Choice Guide of Undergraduate Placement Exam. Accordingly, it is determined that there are 15 departments with 15 different universities in the undergraduate level. According to the results of the research, it was found that professional accounting software was sufficiently involved and MS Office applications were in the middle level in the curricula of the related departments. It is determined that there is little theoretical mention of the Computer Aided Audit Techniques (CAAT) in the related courses and that no audit software is included in the related sections.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, muhasebeci ve denetçi adaylarını yetiştirmek için kurulmuş olan bölümlerde öğretim amaçlı kullanılan mesleki yazılımların kullanım durumunu tespit etmektir. Bu çalışmada kullanılan veri toplama yöntemi, üniversitelerin ilgili bölümlerinin web sayfalarında yayınladıkları müfredatların ve ders içeriklerinin incelenmesidir. Toplanan veriler, frekans ve yüzde analizi yöntemleri ile analiz edilmiştir. Bu araştırmanın ana kütlesini 2018 Lisans Yerleştirme Sınavı Tercih Kılavuzu’nda bulunan ve adında muhasebe ifadesi olan lisans bölümleri oluşturmaktadır. Buna göre lisans seviyesinde 15 farklı üniversitede bulunan 15 bölüm olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre ilgili bölümlerin müfredatlarında mesleki muhasebe yazılımlarının yeteri kadar yer aldığı, MS Ofis uygulamalarının ise orta düzeyde yer aldığı tespit edilmiştir. İlgili derslerde Bilgisayar Destekli Denetim Tekniklerinden (BDDT) teorik olarak çok az bahsedilmekte olduğu ve herhangi bir denetim yazılımının da ilgili bölümlerde yer almadığı tespit edilmiştir.
