FRIEDRICH SCHILLER: A WRITER OF FREEDOM AND GERMAN IDEALISM

Abstract

Friedrich von Schiller is one of the most prominent German writers. Along withGoethe, they create the duo of the leading German writers. In addition to this, Schiller playsan important role in world culture. F. von Schiller (1759-1805) was born and developed as acreator in an exceptionally dynamic political and cultural period for Germany and Europe. Heeven qualifies as one of the protagonists who influenced European dynamism in the politicaland cultural dimensions.Schiller is known as a poet, historian, and philosopher, but priority is given to his identity ofa playwright. The main theme of his works, starting from his first play, which willconcurrently be the main subject of this paper, is freedom. Even though in his earlier plays,he protects the heart's rights from the violent policy of the princes, in his later works being agood connoisseur of history, he chooses characters from history.Therefore, history submitted sufficient material to the playwright Schiller who always strivesto present the confrontation of the man of action with fate, with an exemplary brilliance andtragedy. Nevertheless, as we will witness, throughout his creativity, he remains faithful to hismotive, and that is the motive of freedom. It is with his last completed play, where the idealof freedom reaches the culmination that ensures him the leading position in German culture.

Friedrich von Schiller en ünlü Alman yazarlardan biri olup Goethe ile birlikte, önde gelen Alman yazarların ikilisini oluşturmaktadır. Ayrıca Schiller, dünya kültüründe önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. F. von Schiller (1759-1805), Almanya ve Avrupa için son derece dinamik bir siyasi ve kültürel dönemde doğmuş ve gelişmiş bir yaratımcıdır. İlaveten, Avrupa dinamizmini siyasi ve kültürel boyutta etkileyen önderlerden biri olarak nitelendirir.
