The Implemantations to Develop Student Teachers' Abilities in Teacher Education

Öğretmen Adaylarına Materyal Geliştirme ve Uygulama Becerilerinin Kazandırılmasına Yönelik Uygulamaların Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

It is important to integrate teaching approaches to develop student teachers' skills and knowledge in pre-service teacher education programs. In this study, the effectiveness of the approach in which student teachers' gained the skills to develop and use teacher guided materials (TGMs) in Special Teaching Methods Course-II (STMC-II) for pre-service Physics teachers was evaluated. Study was conducted with 10 student teachers attending to the Master Degree Program without thesis at the Graduated School of Natural and Applied Sciences in KTU. The students were asked to develop and present effective TGMs planned according to principles of special teaching approaches. They were supposed to use the knowledge of pedagogical courses they obtained before this course. In short, they were supposed to develop professional competence in their field. Student teachers' thoughts about the implementations were determined by using a questionnaire. At the end of the process it is concluded that all of the student teachers gained nearly whole defined aims -skills and knowledge- of the STC-II. This has an implication on the notion that the approach used in this study could be one of the appropriate ways to reach the targets of the courses such as STMC-II.

Özet

Öğretmen yetişme sürecinde, gelişime ve değişime açık yapılandırmaları sunan yaklaşımlardan faydalanılması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada, fizik öğretmen adaylarına Özel Öğretim Yöntemleri-II Uygulama Dersi'nde (ÖÖY-II UD) Öğretmen Rehber Materyalleri (ÖRM) geliştirme ve uygulama bilgi ve becerilerinin kazandırılması amacıyla uygulanan yaklaşımın etkililiği değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma, KTÜ Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Fizik Öğretmenliği Tezsiz Yüksek Lisans Programına devam eden 10 öğretmen adayı ile dersin amaçlarına yönelik uygulamalarla başlamıştır. Adaylardan, lise fizik konularında farklı öğrenme kuramlarıyla öğretim yöntem ve tekniklerine dayalı ÖRM geliştirerek sunmaları istenmiştir. Uygulamalar sürecinde adaylarla smıf içi tartışmaları yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın verileri derslerde yapılan gözlemlerden ve adaylara uygulanan bir anketten elde edilmiştir. Süreç sonunda öğretmen adaylarının ÖÖY-II UD ile hedeflenen davranışların çoğunu olumlu derecede kazandıkları görülmüştür. Öğretmenlik meslek derslerinde kazanmış olmaları beklenen öğretim yöntem ve tekniklerine ait bilgi ve becerileri konu alanına uygulamaları istenen adayların, farklı öğretim durumlarını planlama, fizikteki kavram yanılgılarını belirleme gibi davranıştan geliştirdikleri belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, uygulanan yaklaşımın ÖÖY-II UD'nin hedeflerinin gerçekleştirilmesinde kullanılabilecek etkili yaklaşımlardan biri olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarına ÖRM geliştirme ve uygulama becerilerini kazandırmak amacıyla etkili öğretim durumlarının tasarlanmasına yönelik önerilerle çalışma tamamlanmıştır.
