The Use of Museums In History Instruction With Object Based Educational Activities and Social Studies Instruction in Primary Education

Abstract

This article deals with the use of museums in history instruction and Social Studies Curriculum of Primary Education. In the study, first the history, aim and importance of using museums in instruction, object based educational activities in museums and using museums in history instruction were explained. Moreover museum, education and history instruction in Social Studies Course in Primary Education relationship were examined. Finally suggestions for using museum in instruction in Turkey were proposed.

Özet

Bu çalışma müzelerin tarih öğretiminde kullanılması ve bu çerçevede İlköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler Programı üzerine kurulmuştur. Çalışmada öncelikle müzelerin öğretimde kullanılmasının tarihçesi, amacı, önemi ile müzelerde uygulanan nesne merkezli eğitim etkinlikleri ve müzelerin tarih öğretiminde kullanılması açıklanmıştır. Daha sonra Türkiye’de müze-eğitim ve İlköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler dersi içinde yer alan tarih öğretimi ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Son olarak da Türkiye’de müzelerin öğretimde kullanılması konusunda önerilerde bulunulmuştur
