The Law of Unity and Developments in Education

Abstract

With the Law of Unity in Education dated on 3 March 1924, the unity in education and teaching was secured. This law is the basis of many successes we have in the field of education. The result of its bright reflection extending today is to be able to access education without discrimination of sex, to join our schools on common cultural features and to raise people having national values. In our essay, changes and developments in our educational system during the period which started with the introduction of the Law of Unity in Education, has been discussed. Today, it is very important for us to realize how far have gone in the field of education to become more contemporary nation in order we would be able to evaluate our endeavors and to shape our future. If education is our future and the developments in the field of education is considered as one of the indicators which shows the nation’s contemporaneous level then today, we should take into consideration the point where we stand in the process of being a contemporary nation regarding education, and what sort of things have we accomplished in the field of education.

3 Mart 1924 tarihli Tevhid-i Tedrisat Kanunu ile eğitim-öğretimde birlik sağlanmış ve günümüzde eğitim alanında sahip olduğumuz pek çok başarının temelleri atılmıştır. Kız-erkek ayrımı yapmadan eğitim alabilmek, okullarımızı ortak kültür öğelerinde buluşturabilmek, millî duygularda birleşen insanlar yetiştirebilmek gibi başarı adına ne varsa, Tevhid-i Tedrisat'm günümüze uzanan parlak yansımalarının sonucudur. Makalemizde Tevhid-i Tedrisat Kanunu'ndan bu yana eğitimimizdeki değişim ve gelişimler ele alınmıştır. Bugün çağdaşlaşma yolunda eğitimimizde nereden nereye geldiğimizi görmek, geleceğimizi yönlendirmek ve yapılan çalışmaları değerlendirmek adına önemlidir. Eğitim, bir milletin geleceği ve eğitimdeki gelişmeler milletin çağdaşlaşma göstergelerinden biri ise bugün, eğitim açısından çağdaşlaşmanın neresinde olduğumuzu ye Millî Eğitim Bakanlığının bugüne kadar eğitim adına neler yaptığını değerlendirmek gerekmektedir.
