Abstract

In this study, the problems of social sciences teachers are defined in general. Research is carried out in qualitative approach and questionnaire method is used as the tool of datum collcting, 85 social sciences teachers, who are charged in Erzurum city, constitute the research’s environment. Questionnaire form, involuıng 33 questions, is prepared for taking their views, and frequency and percentages are use d to determine the suitability of the standards. The problems are gathered under a different titles as curriculum, text banks, method and planning, measuring and evaluating, teaching methods, students problems, class management, school management and branch and progessional problems. According to research findings; inspector based problems are foremost among the teachers time, defined for teching problems, are the second. The problems ın cultıes in obtaihing the teaching materials related to lesson are detemined as the other problems thattezchers accept generally. According to Chi-Square test; meaningful difference in respect of importance among male and female teachers’ views, arise in accordance with the question whether to find the weekly lecture schedule’s frequency functional in the name of being productive or not.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenlerinin sorunları ana hatlarıyla belirlenmiştir. Araştırma nitel bir yaklaşımla gerçekleştirilmiş olup, veri toplama aracı olarak anket metodu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, Erzurum şehrinde görev yapan 85 Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Öğretmenlerin görüşlerini almak için 33 soruluk bir anket formu hazırlanmış ve standartların uygunluğunu belirlemede, frekans ve yüzdeler kullanılmıştır. Sorunlar, öğretim programı, ders kitapları, yöntem ve planlama, ölçme değerlendirme, öğretim materyalleri, öğrenci sorunları, sınıf yönetimi, okul yönetimi ile alan ve mesleki sorunlar olmak üzere dokuz başlık altında toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre; öğretmenlerin sorunlarının başında müfettişlerle ilgili yaşanan sorunlar gelmektedir. İkinci sırayı, sosyal bilgiler öğretim programı için belirlenen sürenin yetersiz olmasıyla ortaya çıkan sorunlar oluşturmaktadır. Öğrencilerin derse karşı olan olumsuz davranışlarını değiştirmede yaşanan sorunlar ve dersle ilgili öğretim materyallerini temin etmede yaşanan zorluklar, öğretmenlerimizin çoğunlukla kabul ettikleri diğer sorunlar olarak tespit edilmiştir. Chi-Square testine göre, bay ve bayan öğretmenlerimizin görüşleri arasında önem düzeyinde anlamlı farklılık; haftalık ders programının yoğunluluğunu verimli olabilmek adına işlevsel bulma, sorusunda ortaya çıkmıştır.
