The attitudes of the class teacher candidates towards creative drama

Abstract

One of the lessons that the school teacher candidates take during their undergraduate education is Drama. The subject of this study consists the effects of this education that the teacher candidates take on their attitudes towards creative drama. The study was carried out in 4 classrooms where the researcher teaches the Drama in Primary Education in 2006-2007 Academic Year Fall Semester in Buca Faculty of Education Class Teacher Training Department. The study group consists of 132 teacher candidates. The attitudes of the teacher candidates towards Creative Drama were tried to be determined with a five-point Likert type scale developed by Okvuran (2000). According to the results obtained, a positive change occurred in the attitudes of the teacher candidates towards creative drama after the 11 week application. It was observed that the kind of education that the teacher candidates received created a significant difference only in the one dimension of the attitude scale. When considered in terms of the classrooms they study in, it is observed that the significant differences arise with respect to all three dimensions. When their attitudes towards creative drama were examined in terms of gender, it is identified that the significant differences arise with respect to all three dimensions.

Özet

Sınıf öğretmeni adayları lisans eğitimi sırasında çok farklı dersler almaktadırlar. Bunlardan birisi de Drama’dır. Öğretmen adaylarının almış oldukları bu dersin onların yaratıcı dramaya yönelik tutumları üzerindeki etkileri bu araştırmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma DEÜ. Buca Eğitim Fakültesi Sınıf Öğretmenliği Anabilim dalında, 2006–2007 öğretim yılı güz döneminde araştırmacının İlköğretimde Drama derslerini okuttuğu 4 şubede yürütülmüştür. Çalışma grubu 132 öğretmen adayından oluşmaktadır. Öğretmen adaylarının Yaratıcı Dramaya karşı tutumları Okvuran (2000) tarafından geliştirilmiş olan 5’li Likert tipi bir ölçekle belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, öğretmen adaylarının yaratıcı dramaya yönelik tutumlarında 11 haftalık uygulama sonucunda olumlu yönde bir değişim meydana gelmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının okumakta oldukları öğrenim türünün ise, tutum ölçeğinin sadece bir alt boyutunda anlamlı farklılık oluşturduğu gözlenmiştir. Bulundukları şubeler açısından bakıldığında ise; 3 alt boyut açısından da anlamlı farklılıklar oluştuğu görülmüştür. Cinsiyete göre yaratıcı dramaya yönelik tutumları incelendiğinde de 3 alt boyut açısından anlamlı farklılıklar oluştuğu saptanmıştır.
