Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the eosinophilic and non-eosinophilic nasal polyp rates in Isparta and Burdur provinces. Patients and Methods: Between January 2012 and January 2019, a total of 203 patients (121 males, 82 females; mean age 45.6±15.5 years; range, 18 to 67 years) who were living in Isparta and Burdur provinces and operated in our clinic for nasal polyps were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into two groups according to the pathology reports. Group 1 (n=133) consisted of patients with eosinophilic nasal polyps, while Group 2 (n=70) consisted of patients with non-eosinophilic nasal polyps. The groups were statistically compared in terms of age and sex. Results: The mean age of Group 1 was 46.5±15.9 years, while the mean age of Group 2 was 44.0±14.8 years. Of the patients, 80 (60.2%) were males and 53 (39.8%) were females in Group 1. Of the patients, 41 (58.6%) were males and 29 (41.4%) were females in Group 2. No statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of age and sex (p=0.46 and p=0.52, respectively). Conclusion: Eosinophilic and non-eosinophilic nasal polyp distribution in Isparta and Burdur provinces is closer to the nasal polyp subtype distribution of Western nations. Similar studies in different regions are needed to estimate the average of Turkey.

Bulgular: Grup 1’in yaş ortalaması 46.5±15.9 yıl iken, Grup 2’nin yaş ortalaması 44.0±14.8 yıl idi. Grup 1’deki hastaların 80’i (%60.2) erkek, 53’ü (%39.8) kadın idi.
