Comparison of The Antioxidant Power of Polyphenol-Rich Çoban Çökerten (Tribulus Terrestris) and Çoban Çantası (Capsella Bursa-Postaris) Plants Commonly Consumed in Kahramanmaraş: an in Vitro Study

Abstract
Objective of this study to measure the natural antioxidant enzyme capacity of the Çoban Çantası (Capsella bursa-postaris) and Çoban Çökerten (Tribulus terrestris) plants grown naturally within the borders of Kahramanmaraş province. C. pastoris and T. terrestris plants belonging to Bertiz region of Kahramanmaras province were used in the scope of the research. Plant leaves were extracted in a solvent prepared with ethanol, and then antioxidant enzyme activities catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and oxidative stress indicator malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were determined by spectrophotometric methods. The highest SOD and CAT enzyme activities of the two plants were measured in T. terrestris plant, while these values were found to be low in C. pastoris plant (p< 0.05). Bu çalışma ile, Kahramanmaraş ili sınırları içinde doğal olarak yetişen Çoban Çantası (Capsella bursa-postaris) ve Çoban Çökerten (Tribulus terrestris) bitkilerinin doğal antioksidan enzim kapasitesinin ölçülmesi amaçlandı. Araştırma kapsamında Kahramanmaraş ili Bertiz yöresine ait C.pastoris ve T.terrestris bitkilerinden yararlanıldı. Bitki yaprakları, etanol ile hazırlanan çözücüde ekstrakte edilmiş daha sonra antioksidan enzim aktiviteleri katalaz (CAT) ve süperoksit dismutaz (SOD) ile oksidatif stres indikatörü olan malondialdehit (MDA) düzeyleri spektrofotometrik yöntemlerle saptanmıştır. İki bitkinin SOD ve CAT enzim aktivitesi karşılaştırıldığında en yüksek CAT ve SOD aktivitesi T.terrestris bitkisinde ölçülürken C.pastoris bitkisinde bu değerler düşük bulunmuştur (p
