Abstract
In this study, the effect of using perlite in wood plastic composite (WPC) production was investigated. For this purpose, a mixture of wood flour, polypropylene and perlite was obtained. The production of wood-plastic composite (OPK) materials was carried out with Flat-pressed method. The physical and mechanical properties of the test samples of the produced OPK composite materials were determined. Physical (water intake and thickness swelling), mechanical (modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE) and impact strength) and surface roughness tests have been carried out in accordance with the relevant standards. As a result, it was determined that the OPK material produced by adding perlite had a negative impact on the physical, mechanical and surface roughness properties at certain rates due to the increase in the perlite addition rate. While the most positive effect was determined in control samples for all properties, the most negative effect was determined at 20% perlite usage rates.
