Psychometric examination of interview and observation used in theses completed in the field of special education

Özel eğitim alanında tamamlanmış lisansüstü tezlerdeki görüşme ve gözlemin psikometrik açıdan incelenmesi

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric features of the observation and the interview used in the post-graduate theses completed in the field of special education between the years of 2015 and 2018. A total of 152 master's thesis and 37 doctoral theses completed between the mentioned years and with access granted at the HEC National Thesis Center database were taken within the scope of the study. The related theses were examined via the document analysis method and the data collection tools examination form. The obtained data was analyzed via the descriptive content analysis method. According to the research findings, a total of 116 interviews and 322 observations were made in the theses examined. Most of the interviews and observations were made to respond to the research objectives. Forms were used for almost all of the interview and observation records. There is no evidence of validity and reliability of the relevant interview and observation forms; In the theses examined, it has been noted that there are important deficiencies and errors in the reporting of basic methodological data related to these forms. In accordance with the results of the research, the main problems and causes are discussed, and suggestions are presented.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2015- 2018 yılları arasında özel eğitim alanında tamamlanmış lisansüstü tezlerde veri toplama yaklaşımı olarak kullanılan görüşme ve gözlemin psikometrik açıdan incelenmesidir. YÖK Ulusal Tez Merkezi veri tabanında erişimi izinli ve özel eğitim alanında tamamlanmış yüksek lisans düzeyinde 152 ve doktora düzeyinde 37 tez araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Doküman incelemesi yoluyla ilgili tezlerin incelendiği bu çalışmada belirlenen kategoride tezleri incelemek üzere bir veri toplama araçları inceleme formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel içerik çözümlemesi yoluyla analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre, incelenen tezlerde toplam 116 adet görüşme ve 322 adet gözlem yapılmıştır. Görüşme ve gözlemlerin büyük bir kısmı araştırma amaçlarına cevap vermek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Görüşme ve gözlem kayıtlarının tamamına yakını formlar kullanılarak tutulmuştur. İlgili görüşme ve gözlem formlarının büyük bir kısmı için geçerlik ve güvenirlik kanıtlarının sunulmadığı; incelenen tezlerde tekrarlayan biçimde bu formlara ilişkin önemli eksik ve hataların olduğu dikkat çekmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına uygun olarak temel sorunlar ve nedenleri tartışılmış ve öneriler sunulmuştur.
