Abstract

Beta-2 Microglobulin (BMG) is found on the cell surface of all nucleated cells and is released into the blood, particularly by lymphocytes and tumor cells. This plasma protein has a small molecular weight; therefore, its serum levels are affected by the integrity of the glomerular membrane. In chronic active hepatitis and alcohol induced liver cirrhosis without renal disease, an increase in BMG levels has been noted. In this study, serum concentration of BMG. AST. ALT, GGT, total bilirubin, protein, albumin, urea and creatinine were investigated in 33 alcohol, drinkers aged between 20-48 years (mean 35.3) and 36 non-drinkers aged between-18-55 years (mean 37.8)in order to determined whether there is a relation between these markers and alcohol use. Serum BMG levels were determined by means of a solid-phase, two-site chemiluminescent enzyme immunometric assay. Routine methods were used for other parameters. Significant elevation in BMG (p

Serum BMG düzeyi solid-phase, two side chemiluminescent enzyme immunometric assay metodu kullanılarak belirlendi. Diğer parametrelerde rutin metotlar kullanıldı. Kontrol grubuna göre alkol grubunda BMG (p< 0.001), AST (p
