Western blot results of anti-HIV-1/2 positive cases with ELISA method at Ministry of Health Ankara Education and Research Hospital between 1990 and 1999

Abstract
Between 1990 January and 1999 September in Ministry of Health Ankara Education and Research Hospital Anti-HIV-1/2 antibody was measured in 107957 sera by one of Microparticle Enzyme Immunoassay MEIA Fluorescence Polarization Immunoassay (FPIA), Enzyme Linked Fluorescence Assay (ELFA), macro-ELlSA, micro-ELISA methods. Off these 107957 samples, 66 were detected as positive by one of these methods and these were sent to "AIDS Araştırma ve Doğrulama Merkezi" or "Kızılay Kan Merkezi" for confirmation test. In these centers anti-HIV-1/2 antibody was measured again by one or two of immunoflorescence assay (IFA), macro-ELISA, micro-ELISA, Enzyme immunoassay (Casette EIA, Wellcome Wellcozyme HIV-1/2 Recombinant EIA method, Wellcozyme HIV Recombinant Murex VK 85 EIA and HIV 1.0.2. Detection Pack Murex 1000.2000.3000), latex agglutination methods. Anti-HIV-1/2 antibody detected as positive in 28 (0,026 %) of these sera were measured by Western Blot (WE), and 15 (0,014 %) of these showed HIV-1/2 IgG antibody band in Western Blot test and 1 (0,0001%) serum was reported as determinate.

Ocak 1990-Eylül 1999 tarihleri arasında S.B. Ankara Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi 'nde incelemeye alman 107957 serumda "Microparticle Enzyme immunoassay (MEIA) ", "Fluorescence Polarization immunoassay (FPIA) ", "Enzyme Linked Fluorescence Assay (ELFA) ", makro-ELISA, mikro-ELISA yöntemlerinden biri ile anti-HIV-1/2 antikoru araştırıldı. Bu serumların 66 'sında (%0.061) herhangi bir yöntemle pozitiflik saptanarak konfirmasyon testleri için S.B. AIDS Araştırma ve Doğrulama Merkezi veya Kızılay Kan Merkezi'ne gönderildi. Bu merkezlerde immünfloresan assay (IFA) (Electronucleonics Virgo IFA), makro-ELISA, mikro-ELISA, enzim immunoassay (Casette EIA, Wellcome Wellcozyme HIV-1 Recombinant EIA kiti, Wellcozyme HIV Recombinant Murex VK 85 EIA ve H1V 1.0.2. Detection Pack Murex 1000.2000.3000), lateks aglütinasyon testi (Cambridge Bioscience Recombigen HIV-1 LA Aglutinasyon kiti), gibi testlerden biri veya birkaçı ile tekrar çalışıldı. Pozitif bulunan toplam 28 (%0.026) serum Western Blot (WB) testine alındı. 15'inde (%0.014) WB'ta HIV-1/2 Ig G antikorlarına özgü bandlar görülürken 1 hastanın (%0.001) serumunda WB indetermine (nonspesifik bandlar) olarak değerlendirildi.
