Serum tissue polypeptide specific antigen (TPS) levels in patients with hepatic cirrhosis, chronic active hepatitis and primary hepatocellular carsinoma

Abstract
Cirrhosis, chronic active hepatitis and primary hepatocellular carcinoma are closely related liver disease. Laboratory findings are very important for interpreting the diagnosis, prognosis and etiology of these diseases. Several criteria are use to define prognosis. Recently, specific analyte investigations have been continued for liver diseases. The aim of this research is to investigate the significance of serum TPS levels in patients with cirrhosis, chronic active hepatitis and primary hepatcellular carsinoma. In this research ,serum TPS levels were determined in twenty-two patients, with hepatic cirrhosis, in eleven patients with chronic active hepatitis and in seven patients with primary hepatocellular carsinoma compared with control subject. Karaciğer sirozu, kronik aktif hepatit ve primer hepatoselüler karsinoma (HSK) birbiriyle yakından ilişkili olan karaciğer hastalıklarıdır. Laboratuar bulguları bu hastalıkların varlığı, prognozu ve etyolojisi ile ilgili önemli ipuçları sağlar. Prognozun saptanması için çeşitli kriterler kullanılmaktadır. Son yıllarda tedavinin değerlendirilmesi ve prognozun saptanmasında çeşitli laboratuar yöntemleri ve karaciğer için spesifik analit arayışları devam etmektedir. Çalışmamızın amacı karaciğer sirozu,kronik aktif hepatit ve primer HSK'da serum doku polipeptid spesifik antijen (TPS) düzeylerinin önemini araştırmaktı. Bu çalışmada karaciğer sirozlu 22 hasta, kronik aktif hepatitli 11 hasta ve primer HSK'lı 7 hasta ve sağlıklı bireylerden oluşan 20 kişide serum TPS düzeylerini tayin ettik.
