Abstract
The transfusion of blood and blood constituents saves lives of many people; however, it can induce fatal Graft-Versus-Host dis- ease. The only way to prevent this disease, which is characterized by an increase in the damage of donor s T-lymphocytes that tar- get organs of the receiver, is the radiation of the blood and blood constituents with X and gamma rays. With this process, DNA damage is formed in donor s T-lymphocytes and hence prolifera- tion is prevented. In general, the application dose of 25-30 Gy is well accepted and this dose is enough for the inactivation of the cellular elements.
