Abstract
Although tumors of the periampullary region are not the mostprevalent type of tumor, their high mortality and morbidityrates make the treatment of them critical, especially in general surgery. The Whipple procedure is the standard surgicaltreatment for these tumors. Postoperative care is paramountbecause of the frequent peri- and postoperative complica- tions resulting from the procedure. Rarely, patients die due tocauses other than these complications. In this case, we reporta patient who died on postoperative Day 43 as the result ofa cerebrovascular infarct, secondary to inappropriate antidi- uretic hormone secretion.
