The Methodology of Imāmal-BukhārīIn al-Adab al-Mufrad

Abstract

Imāmal-Bukhārīis considered as one of the prominent ḥadīthscholars, and he enriched the Islamic library with a great number of valuable books of prophetic ḥadīth. Prophetic manners and character are considered as the pure source from which the entire Islamic nation derive their unchangeable moral system and nations are valued by their own morality. This is why the book of al-Bukhārī's book entiteled al-Ādābal-mufradcan be considered as a reference in terms of ḥadīthand ethics for the entire Muslim nation.This study aims to show the prominent status of this book and the issues it tackles. It also proves the authenticity of its au-thorship and shows Imāmal-Bukhārī's methodology as regards the isnād (narration) and matn (text) of prophetic ḥadīth. The isnād is dealt with from the perspective of narrators, varieties of ascriptions, ways of reporting and reception of ḥadīth, and comments on and judgment of ascriptions. As for the matn is studied from the view-point of division of topics, comments on texts, repetition of texts, and summing up of texts.The study also aims to show Imāmal-Bukhārī's attitude as regards the use of weak ḥadīthin good manners –an issue of great controversy and misunderstanding in modern times.The study further seeks to show the importance of the knowledge of the methodology of ḥadīthscholars for students of sharīʿain general and for specialists of prophetic ḥadīthin particu-lar.

Özet

Meşhur hadis âlimlerinden İmam Buhârî, en büyük muhad-dislerden kabuledilmektedir. İslam kütüphanelerine kendisinden sonra gelen nesillerin faydalandığı zengin bir hazine bırakmıştır. İmam Buhârî’nin el-Edebü’l-Müfredisimli kitabı, Müslümanlar için bir bakıma hadis ve ahlak kaynağı sayılmaktadır. Bu yönüyle bu eser İslâm ahlakı ve nebevî âdâp konusunda İslâm âlimlerinin kendi yöntemini elde ettiği kıymetli bir eserdir.Bu araştırma, söz konusu kitabın önemini ve konusunu açıklama, eserin müellifine nispetinin doğruluğunun yanı sıra, İmam Buhârî’nin metin ve isnad alanındaki yöntemini beyan etmeyi hedeflemektedir. Çalışmamızda müellifin, isnad açısından ricâl ilmi, hadis tahammül ve eda yolları, senetler hakkında bir takım tespitler yapma; metin açısından ise bâb başlıkları, muhteva değerlendirme-si, metinlerin tekrarı ve kısaltılması gibi konulardaki yöntemini ele almaya gayret ettik.Öte yandan bu çalışma, amellerin faziletleri hakkında İmam Buhârî’nin zayıf hadisle amel etme konusundaki görüşlerini açıkla-mayı amaçlamaktadır. Zira bu mesele hakkında özellikle İmam Buhârî’ye sonraki asırlarda büyük eleştiriler yöneltilmiştir.Ayrıca araştırmamız genel olarak şer’i ilimleri elde etmek is-teyen, özellikle de hadis ilminde uzmanlaşmak isteyen kimseler için muhaddislerin senet ve metne dair metodunu öğrenmenin önemini vurgulamaktadır.
