Abstract
Objective: The purpose of the present study was to determine the specific antibodies against TORCH agents in the pregnants at Atatürk University Hospital. Materials and methods: In the study, 121 sera were tested by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: The overall results were as follows: 4.1% for toxoplasma IgM and 42.1% for IgG 0.8 % for Rubella IgM and 95.0 % for IgG - 14.3 % for CMV IgM and 80.3 % for IgG 5.8 % for HSV-I IgM and 96.2 % for IgG 1.7%forHSV-IIIgMand8.6%forIgG Conclusions: TORCH infections are the important causes of abnormal pregnancy. Screening of the pregnants for TORCH infections is necessary to prevent birth defection and perinatal complications.
