Optical investigation of palladium(II) phthalocyanine including an aromatic group

Abstract
Peripherally β-naphthoxy-substituted palladium(II) phthalocyanine was synthesizedfrom corresponding phthalonitrile compounds. The palladium(II) phthalocyanine wascharacterized with ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), fourier transform-infraredspectroscopy (FT-IR), mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis techniques. Thin films ofpalladium(II) phthalocyanine were prepared using different organic solvents by spin coatingtechnique. Transmittance and absorbance spectra of the thin films were studied in thewavelength range of 200–1000 nm. Optical band gaps of palladium(II) phthalocyanine thin filmswere also calculated.
