Abstract

The remediation of cadmium and lead ions from their respective aqueous solutions was carried outwith the use of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) developed from copper and zinc with benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid (BDC). The experimental adsorption process was done in batches to determine the equilibriumcharacteristics, thermodynamics and kinetics of the sorption processes. The result was then tested usingLangmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin isotherm equations with Langmuir being the best fitted isotherm, while thekinetics isotherm used were pseudo first order and pseudo second order. The result obtained shows that theMOFs are great potential adsorbent for the studied metals.
