Abstract

Virchow-Robin spaces (VRSs) are perivascular pia-lined extensions of the subarachnoidspace around the arteries and veins as they enter the brain parenchyma. The precise etiologyof these enlarged perivascular spaces (PVSs) is unknown. VRSs usually do not causesignificant mass effect and neurologic deterioration. However; cystic enlargement of giant VRspaces may be misinterpreted in radiological studies as a part of a pathologic process. Withthis report, we present a case of giant Virchow-Robin spaces in MRI section as a cause ofataxic gait in a 56 year-old male patient.
