Abstract
During the times of World War I, Germany was an important pioneer in many areas ofscience and medicine. Alois Alzheimer, who lived during this period, was one of the foundersof the field of neuropathology. He described a form of dementia as a brain destroying diseasemore than 100 years ago. This paper provides an overview on the discovery of the Alzheimerdisease and the physician behind this discovery, Alois Alzheimer, through philately.

1. Dünya Savaşı yıllarında Almanya, bilim ve tıbbın pek çok alanında öncüydü. Bu dönemdeyaşayan Alois Alzheimer, nöropatolojinin kurucuları arasındadır. ilerleyici beyin hasarına yolaçan yeni bir demans türünü 100 yıldan daha fazla süre önce tarif etmiştir. Bu çalışma, filateliyoluyla Alzheimer hastalığının keşif sürecine ve bu keşfin arkasındaki hekim olan AloisAlzheimer'ın hayatına genel bir bakış sunmayı hedeflemektedir.
