(OPINIONS OF UNDERGRADUATE TOURISM STUDENTS ON THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK

TURİZM EĞİTİMİ ALAN ÖĞRENCİLERİN COVID-19 SALGININA YÖNELİK GÖRÜŞLERİ

Abstract

The Covid-19 epidemic, which emerged in Wuhan, China and spread to the world, has become a global problem. This epidemic surrounding the world has also affected Turkey and has had a significant negative impact on tourism as well as industries. In this crisis environment, where the opinions of all tourism stakeholders on the subject are important, the opinions of undergraduate tourism students on the Covid-19 outbreak were examined in this research. The data were obtained from the participants using the semi-structured interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, and these data were evaluated by descriptive analysis. According to the results of the research, the participants agree that the Covid-19 outbreak negatively affects the tourism activities especially about economic view in Turkey. Participants also express theirviews on the issues that certain rules and controls about security and health will be given to many institutions and organizations after the epidemic, mass tourism will decrease and more individual services will be given, and the demands will be repeated for our country after the epidemic, as the process is well managed compared to the destination countries. Özet

Çin’in Wuhan şehrinde ortaya çıkıp dünyaya yayılan Covid-19 salgını, küresel bir sorun haline gelmiştir. Tüm dünyayı saran bu salgın Türkiye’yi de etkilemiş, tüm endüstrileri olduğu gibi turizme de önemli derecede olumsuz etkisi olmuştur. Konu ile ilgili tüm turizm paydaşlarının görüşlerinin önem arz ettiği bu kriz ortamında, bu araştırmada turizm eğitimi alan üniversite öğrencilerinin Covid-19 salgınına yönelik görüşleri incelenmiştir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat tekniği kullanılarak katılımcılardan veri elde edilmiş, bu veriler betimsel analiz ile değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Araştırma neticelerine göre Covid-19 salgınının Türkiye’deki turizm faaliyetlerini özellikle iktisadi açıdan olumsuz etkilediği görüşü ön plana çıkmaktadır. Salgın sonrası birçok kurum ve kuruluşa güvenlik ve sağlık konularında belli kurallar ve denetimler geleceği, kitle turizminin azalarak daha çok bireysel hizmetler verileceği, rakip ülke destinasyonlarına nazaran süreç iyi yönetildiği için salgın sonrası Türkiye’ye taleplerin tekrar başlayacağı gibi öngörüler katılımcıların görüşleri arasındadır. Katılımcıların diğer görüşleri arasında, salgın sonrası turizm işletmelerinin değişim, yatırım ve mobil iletişim konularına ağırlık vermesi yer almakta olup, Covid-19 salgının zararlarının yanı sıra, destinasyonların ve turizm işletmelerinin bu süreçte kendilerini yenileme imkânı bulduğu görüşü de araştırmadan elde edilen bir başka sonuçtur.
