THE EFFECT OF RURAL TOURISM ACTIVITIES ON THE ECONOMIC WELFARE OF THE LOCAL PEOPLE: THE CASE OF ISPARTA KUYUCAK

Abstract

The aim of this research is to measure the effects of rural tourism on the economic welfare of the local people in Isparta Kuyucak. The case study approach, as one of the qualitative research designs, was used within the scope of the research. Semi-structured interview technique was used as data collection method. The interview questions were created by using the measurement criteria in the Global Social Welfare Index, and the final version of the interview questions was given by consulting 7 experts on the subject. The data obtained from the face-to-face interviews with the participants were systematically analyzed with the “MAXQDA” program and in order to explain the economic welfare eight sub-themes were determined; namely employment, purchasing power, increase in the price of local products, marketing and sales opportunities, new business and study areas, product diversification and inflation. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that rural tourism positively affected the economic welfare of the local people living in Kuyucak village in Isparta Keçiborlu basin.

Özet

Bu araştırmada, Isparta Kuyucak’ta gelişen kırsal turizmin yöre halkının ekonomik refahı üzerinde yarattığı etkileri ölçmek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında nitel araştırma desenlerinden biri olan durum çalışmasından yararlanılmıştır. Veri toplama yöntemi olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Görüşme soruları Küresel Sosyal Refah Endeksi’ndeki ölçüm kriterlerinden yararlanılarak oluşturulmuş ve konu uzmanı öğretim üyelerinden oluşan 7 kişiye danışılarak, görüşme sorularına son hali verilmiştir. Katılımcılarla yüz yüze yapılan görüşmelerde elde edilen veriler MAXQDA paket programı ile sistematik olarak analiz edilmiş ve ekonomik refahı açıklamak amacıyla gelir, istihdam, alım gücü, yöresel ürünlerin fiyatlarında artış, pazarlama ve satış olanakları; yeni iş ve çalışma alanları, ürünlerin çeşitlenmesi ve enflasyon olmak üzere sekiz alt tema belirlenmiştir. Analiz sonucunda kırsal turizmin Isparta Keçiborlu havzasında bulunan Kuyucak köyünde yaşayan yöre halkının ekonomik refah seviyesini olumlu yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir.
