Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal the postgraduate theses written on medical tourism in Turkey between the years 2018-2022 through bibliometric analysis. For this purpose, data on theses were obtained from the website of the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education. In this context, a total of 43 theses were reached from the relevant database by using the keyword "medical tourism" and 43 theses with no access limit were analyzed. In the result of study, findings were obtained from the postgraduate levels of the theses, research methods, the types of institutes they were prepared, the titles of the advisors, the number of pages and keywords. According to the findings, it was determined that the majority of theses were at the master's level (35) and the most of theses were prepared affiliated to the institute of social sciences. It has been seen that in theses qualitative research method is mostly used and thesis on medical tourism has been prepared in 28 different universities throughout Turkey. It is thought that these results will draw attention to the reflections of the increasing interest in medical tourism on the theses and the number of theses and will contribute to the researchers who will work in this field.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2018-2022 yılları arasında Türkiye’de medikal turizm konusunda yazılmış lisansüstü tezleri bibliyometrik analiz yoluyla ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla, tezlere ilişkin veriler Yükseköğretim Kurulu Ulusal Tez Merkezi’nin web adresinden elde edilmiştir. Bu kapsamda "medikal turizm" anahtar kelimesi kullanılarak ilgili veri tabanından toplam 43 teze ulaşılmış ve erişim sınırı olmayan 43 tez analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda; tezlerin lisansüstü düzeyleri, araştırma yöntemleri, hazırlandıkları enstitü türleri, danışmanların unvanları, sayfa sayısı ve anahtar kelimeler konusunda bulgular elde edilmiştir. Bulgulara göre, en fazla tez yüksek lisans (35) düzeyinde iken, en fazla tezin sosyal bilimler enstitüsüne bağlı olarak hazırlandığı belirlenmiştir. Tezlerde en çok nitel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı ve Türkiye genelinde 28 farklı üniversitede medikal turizm konulu tez hazırlandığı görülmüştür. Bu sonuçların, medikal turizm konusuna gün geçtikçe artan ilginin tezlere ve tez sayısına yansımalarına dikkat çekeceği ve bu alanda çalışacak araştırmacılara katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
