The problems of seafood processing sector in Turkey and suggestions

Türkiye’ de Su ürünleri işleme sektörünün sorunları ve çözüm önerileri

Abstract

In Turkey, consumption of seafood is significantly lower than the other countries. Inadequatetransport of fresh seafood due to the insufficient cold chain conditions is probably the mostblocking factor of seafood consumption and trade.Developing of seafood processing sectorand cold chain conditions will improve the consumption and exportation of seafood. In order toincrease the market share and competitive strength of processed seafood, consistentgovernmental policies should be sustained. To improve seafood industry, cooperation must beprovided, taxes, and fees should be decreased, and convenient supporting system should bemaintained. Obligating food safety system for seafood processing establishments and forwholesale fish markets, improving the cold chain conditions are necessary.

Özet

Türkiye’de su ürünlerinin tüketimi diğer ülkelerden önemli ölçüde azdır. Yetersiz soğuk zincirkoşulları nedeniyle taze su ürünlerinin uygun olmayan şekilde taşınması muhtemelen su ürün- lerinin tüketimi ve ticaretini sınırlayan en önemli etkendir. Su ürünleri işleme sektörünün vesoğuk zincir koşullarının gelişmesi su ürünlerinin tüketimini ve ihracatını artıracaktır. İşlenmişsu ürünlerinin pazar payını artırmak ve rekabet koşullarına dayanabilmesini sağlamak için ko- operatifleşme sağlanmalı, vergi ve harçlar indirilmeli, sürekli bir destekleme sistemi kurulma- lıdır. Gıda güvenliği sisteminin su ürünleri işletmelerinde ve balık hallerinde yerleştirilmesi vesoğuk zincir şartlarının iyileştirilmesi ise elzemdir.
