Are uraemic children immunologically disturbed?

Abstract

In this study, peripheral blood total white blood cell count, total granulocytes, total lymphocytes, lymphocyte subsets were evaluated, skin tests with PPD and Candida antigens were performed, serum immunoglobulin (Ig) and complement levels were measured in thirty children with end-stage renal failure (10 predialysis, 10 continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis-CAPD and 10 hemodialysis) and 15 healthy controls.
