Evaluation of Some Basin Characteristics of Çağlayan Basin (Fındıklı-Rize) Using Geographical Information Systems

Çağlayan Havzasının (Fındıklı-Rize) Bazı Havza Karakteristiklerinin Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri İle Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

It is very important to determine the characteristics of the basin in Turkey and bringing it to the attention of planners for sustainable land management based on ecological balance. For this purpose, some basin characteristics of the Fındıklı Çağlayan basin and distribution of forests according to elevation and aspect were determined with the using of Geographical Information System (GIS). As a result of the research, the area of Çağlayan basin is 17403.6 ha, the main river length of the basin is 30.5 km and the average slope of the basin is 36.2%. The highest amount of land in the basin is in the elevation step of 2401-2700m with 13.54% and the least land is in the elevation step of 3001-3300 m with 0.58%. 62.26% of the basin area is shady, while 37.74% is sunny. 46.42% of the basin area is composed of sandy tuffandesite-basalt, while 36.96% is composed of granite-microgranite and granadiorite rock groups. 41.54% of the land in the basin is composed of forest, 29.72% is forest land, 15.39% is pasture, 0.27% is water and 13.09% is agricultural land.

Ekolojik dengeye dayanan sürdürülebilir bir arazi yönetimi için ülkemiz havzalarına ait havza karakteristiklerinin doğru biçimdebelirlenmesi ve planlamacıların dikkatine sunulması oldukça önemlidir. Bu amaçla Fındıklı Çağlayan havzasına ait bazı havza karakteristikleriile orman toplumlarının yükselti ve bakıya göre dağılımları Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemi (CBS) yardımıyla ortaya konulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunagöre Çağlayan havzasının alanı 17403.6 ha, havza ana dere uzunluğu 30.5 km, havzanın ortalama eğimi %36.2’dir. Havzanın %13,54’ ü 2401-2700 m, % 0.58 ile 3001-3300 m yükselti basamaklarında dağılış göstermektedir. Havzanın 62.26’sı gölgeli bakı, %37.74’ü ise güneşlibakılardadır. Havzanın % 46.42’sı ile Kumlu tüf-Andezit-Bazalt, 36.96’sı ise granit-mikrogranit ve granadiorit kayaç guruplarındanoluşmaktadır. Havza genelindeki arazilerin % 41.54’ü orman, % 29.72’si orman toprağı, % 15,39’u mera, % 0.27’si su ve %13.09’u ziraatarazilerinden oluşmaktadır.
