Abstract

The p rocess of Catholicism in Armenian, beginning in the 12th century, Arm e- nians came into contact with the Roman c hurch through their ties with the Cru- saders in Cilicia. The beginning of Armenian Protestantism is traced back to the19th century missionary activities of the American Board of Missions. AfterCon stanti nople fell to the Ottoman Turks in 1453, the patriarchate came to caremore directly for all the Orthodox living in the Ottoman Empire. In 1461 establi shed as the Armenian Patriarch. In the religious system of government was anoutcome of the fact th at Sultan made no distinction between church and co mmunity, often lent the weight of its authority to maintain the integrity of thechurch. However, especially in 19th century, the influence of the western states,Orthodox Armenian grouped heterodox, has b ecome a problem to be solved.

Özet

Ermeni toplumundaki Katolikleşme süreci, Ermenilerin XII. yüzyılın başlarındaRoma Katolik Kilisesi ile Haçlı Seferleri sırasında karşılaşmaları ile başlamıştır.Protestanlaşma ise XIX. yüzyılda Amerikan Misyoner Meclisi nin İstanbul daki çalışmalarından sonra gündeme gelmiştir. İstanbul un 1453 te Osmanlılar tarafı ndan fethedilmesiyle Türkler, Ortodoks Ermenilerle birlikte yaşamaya başlamış,1461 de Fatih Sultan Mehmed tarafından İstanbul Ermeni Patrikhanesi nin kurulmasından sonra devletin dînî sistemi gereği, kiliseler arasında denge kuru lmuştur. Ancak özellikle XIX. yüzyılda Batılı devletlerin de etkisiyle Ortodoks E rmeni Kilisesi, heterodoks gruplara ayrıla rak çözümlenmesi gereken bir meselehaline gelmiştir.
