Abstract
In this study, clinical and microscopical findings and treatment procedures have been reported in 7 perianal gland tumours observed in a period of 10 years between 1987 -97. The dogs that formed the study material were male dogs of different breeds, aged between 7- 14 years. Fallowing microscopical examination, 4 tumours were diagnosed as hepatoid cell peri¬ anal gland adenoma, 2 as well differentiated perianal gland adenoma and 1 as hepatoid cell peri¬ anal gland adenocarcinoma. For treatment, all the dogs were given estrogen at a dosage of 1,1 mg/kg for 4 times with 15 day intervals and the tumours regressed completely. However, the dog diagnosed as having a carcinoma died due to estrogen toxicity. Some of the dogs undergoing treatment were castrated and after a 1 year follow-up no relapse was observed in any of the 6 tumour cases.
