Aspergillosis in an ostrich farm

Abstract
In this study, 5 months old, male ostriches submitted to Veterinary Faculty of Istanbul were necropsied, and examined histopathologically and bacteriologically. Lesions with pseudomembranes were observed on the tang, on the palantum molle and in the mouth. Similar lesions were also observed in airsacs, pluera, lungs, sternum and around the hearth. Sections from this lesions revealed that there were granalomatous inflamation consisting caseification in the middle and lympohcyt, macrophages arid giant cells around the inflarnation. Numerous hifa, micheliums and conidiospors were also seen in the middle of this lesions. Aspergillus spp. was isolated from the samples taken from this lesions and the Ketoconazole was recommended for treatment.
Özet
Bu çalışmada, Istanbul Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakiiltesi'ne getirilen 5 aylık, erkek 4 adet devekuşuna nekropsi yapıldıktan sonra histopatolojik ve bakteriyolojik incelemeler yapıldı. Nekropside ağızda, dilde ve yumuşak damakta pseudomembranlı lezyonlar gözlendi. Benzer lezyonlar hava keselerinde, göğüs boşluğunda, akciğerde, sternum ve kalp çevresinde de saptandı. Lezyonlu alanlardan hazırlanan kesitlerde ortalarının kazeifıye durumda, çevrelerinin lenfosit, makrofaj ve dev hücrelerle çevrili granulomöz bir yangı tablosunun gelişmiş olduğu saptandı. Bu lezyonların ortalarında çok sayıda hifa, miselium, ve konidiospor formları gözlendi. Lezyonlardan alınan örneklerden Aspergillus sınıfı mantar etkeni izole edildi ve tedavi için Ketoconazole önerildi.
