Abstract

The aim of this study is to obtain the average crustal thickness beneath the Agean Sea by applying two dimensional fourier power spectrum to Bouguer gravity anomaly map between 36°-40° N latitudes and 24°-29° E longitudes. Beside the gravity data, other geophysical data such as magnetic, seismologic and heat flow which obtained from the previous studies were also used. Apart from these, geological and geomorphological informations were utilised for interpretation of the results. When we looked at the obtained crustal thickness map of the region it is clearly seen that the crustal thickness is decreasing in the middle of the Agean Sea and increasing towards to the northern Agean, Turkey and Greece. The obtained result is seen in a very good agreement with the previous studies.
