Abstract
Today, the demand for energy in the world is dependent upon electricity which is either required for industrial development or a must for communication equipments. Energy is extremely vital for industrialization of the countries and therefore availability of energy raw materials is a necessity for those countries. Electricity is a secondary type of energy which is provided from fossil fuels, hydraulic sources or nuclear materials. The world's fossil fuels include coal at 70%, crude oil at 14%, natural gas at 14% and others at 2%. When general distribution of those fuels is investigated; it is seen that while oil and gas reserves are found in certain geographical regions, coal reserves are evenly spread onto several different regions and the coal production is performed at 50 countries in the world. It is an inevitable fact that Türkiye will face a possible energy crisis in the short term future with its everlasting growing economy and encouraging industrial development.
