Investigation of effects of rock properties on surface settlement and convergence in metro tunnels

Metro tünellerinde kayaç özelliklerinin tasman ve konversanja etkilerinin araştırılması

Abstract

In metro tunnel excavations, limitation of convergence that is occurred on tunnel walls and surface settlement that comes into being on the surface and causes damage to the structures on the earth surface (even that can fall those structures down) carries high importance. With deficiency in restraining those two values under acceptable limits, while metro tunnel could not perform its ordinary duties, benefits that metro could provide will also be likely to reduce. For this reason, by using the mechanical characters of rock specifications and for aiming at predicting convergence surface settlement previously, first phase of Istanbul Metro excavations is being analyzed. At the end of the study realized, it is determined that the best explanatory rock properties reflecting convergence and surface settlement values is tensile strength and compressive strength/tensile strength ratio and by using this properties it is concluded that convergence and surface settlement could be previously predicted.

Özet

Metro tüneli kazılarında, kazı sonrası tünel duvarlarında oluşan konverjans ve yeryüzünde oluşan ve yüzeyde bulunan yapılara hasar veren, hatta yıkılmalarına neden olan tasmanın, müsaade edilebilir değerler arasında tutulabilmesi çok önemlidir. Aksi halde, metro tüneli kendisinden beklenilen vazifeleri yerine getiremeyeceği gibi metrodan beklenilen kazanımlar da azalacaktır. Bu amaçla, kayaçların mekanik özelliklerini kullanarak tasman ve konverjansın önceden tahmin edilebilmesine yönelik olarak, İstanbul Metrosu 1. aşama kazıları üzerinde çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışma sonucunda, konverjans ve tasmanı en iyi ifade eden kayaç özelliğinin çekme dayanımı ve basınç dayanımı/çekme dayanımı oranının olduğu saptanmış ve bu özellikler kullanılarak tasman ve konverjansın önceden tahmin edilebileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.
