Abstract

Bone scintigraphy plays a major role in the diagnosis of bone metastases. The clinical utility of new biochemical markers of bone metabolism has recently been investigated in various bone diseases. This study evaluated the role of serum Ferritin marker in comparison with bone scan in the follow - up of breast cancer patients. The follow-up bone scans (BS) of 66 women with breast cancer and without known bone metastases were reviewed and compared with serum Ferritin concentration. 19 of whom were in stage I, 16 in stage II, 15 in stage III and 16 in stage IV. Serum Ferritin levels were found to be higher stage IV, i.e. at the presence of metastases, than the values in stage I,II,III and control group (p

Özet

Kemik sintigrafisi (KS) kemik metastaz (KM) larının tanısında önemli role sahiptir. Yeni kemik metabolizması ürünü tümör belirleyici (TB)leri son yıllarda çeşitli kemik patolojilerinde araştırılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada 66 meme kanser (MK) li olguların takibinde ve KM'larının erken tanısında serum Ferritin seviyesinin rolü KS ile karşılaştırarak araştırılmıştır. Olguların 19 tanesi evre I, 16 tanesi evre II, 15 tanesi evre III ve 16 tanesi evre IV idi.
