Abstract

Recurrent hypertensive encephalopathy due to recombinant erythropoietin treatment. Recombinant human erythropoietin (r-HuEPO) is a powerful treatment of endogenous erythropoietin deficiency and anemia associated with chronic renal failure. Hypertension is a commonly observed side effect of this therapy; however hypertensive encephalopathy is rarely encountered. Here we report a patient who developed recurrent hypertensive encephalopathy after r-HuEPO therapy.

Özet

Kronik böbrek yetersizliğine bağh gelişen aneminin standart tedavisi, endojen eritropoietin açığının rekombinant insan eritropoietin (r-HuEPO) ile yerine konmasıdır. Tedavinin başlan-gıç fazında bazı hastalarda kan basıncı yüksekliği görülmekte, nadiren de konvulsiyonla seyreden hipertansif ensefalopati meydana gelmektedir. Burada r-HuEPO kullanımına bağlı tekrarlayıcı hipertansif ensefalopati tablosu ile gelişen bir olgu sunulmaktadır.
