Supportive care in labor and the rol of midwife / nurse

Abstract

Labor is an important period which biological, physical, emotional and social changes are seen to correspond into motherhood. Due to these changes the women in the maternity period feels the need to be supported and cared for. Nurses and midwifes who support the women in their intrapartum period can provide a comfortable and healthy birth and contribute in the progress of the mothers and baby s health by giving them a complete nursing combined with support. In this study it is aimed to consider the knowledge of the role of the nurse/midwife and supportive care towards this period seen in literature.

Özet

Doğum anneliğe uyum sağlamada önemli olan biyolojik, fiziksel, duygusal ve sosyal değişimlerin yaşandığı bir dönemdir. Bu değişimler nedeni ile doğum sürecindeki her kadın desteğe ve önemsendiğini hissetmeye gereksinim duymaktadır. Doğum eylemi süresince kadınla birlikte olan ebeler ve hemşireler desteğin de içinde yer aldığı bütüncül bir yaklaşım ile bakım vererek, kadınların rahat ve sağlıklı doğum yapmalarını sağlayabilir, anne ve bebek sağlığının gelişimine katkı verebilirler. Bu çalışmada doğum eyleminde verilen destekleyici bakım ve ebe / hemşirenin rolü ile ilgili literatürde yer alan bilgilerin gözden geçirilmesi hedeflenmektedir.
