Orthodontic treatment approach in a case with adult periodontitis

Abstract

This paper presents the results of the orthodontic treatment and a follow up period of three years in a patient zvith secon¬dary malocclttsion due to adult periodontitis. The oral hygiene instructions were accompanied by scaling, root planing and subgingival curettage. The orthodontic treatment included the application of upper and lower ed¬gewise appliances. For retention, a Hawley appliance on the upper jaw and a dead wire and lingual pads in the lo¬wer jaw were used. The results of the orthodontic treameni were stabilized for three years of time.

Bu makalede erişkin periodontitisi nedeni ile sekon-der maloklüzyon oluşmuş bir hastada ortodontik teda¬vi ve ortodontik tedaviden üç yıl sonraki sonuçlar su¬nulmuştur. Ortodontik tedavi öncesinde diş taşı temizliği, kök yü¬zeyi düzleştirmesi ve subgingival küretaj yapılan hasta¬ya, edgewise mekaniği ile ortodontik tedavi yapılmış¬tır. Pekişme amacı ile üst çenede Hawley plağı, alt çe¬nede lingual pad'ler ve ölü tel'den oluşan retainer uy¬gulanmıştır. Ortodontik tedavi ile elde edilen sonuçla¬rın tedaviden üç yıl sonra da korunduğu izlenmekte¬dir.
