Abstract

Synchronous primary appendicular neoplasms associated with colorectal cancer have been reported in the literature but their true incidence is unknown. A 65-year-old-woman consulted with the complaints of weight loss, fatigue, left flank pain and difficulty in defecation, and passing flatus. Colonoscopic examination showed a splenic flexure tumor, but proximal colon could not be examined because of luminal obstruction. She underwent total colectomy. Pathological examination of the resection material revealed adenocarcinoma of the colon and a synchronous well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor of the appendix. We hereby report a case of incidentally detected synchronous appendicular neuroendocrine tumor and a colonic adenocarcinoma.

Özet

Kolorektal tümörlerle birlikte görülen senkron ve metakron apendiks tümörleri sıklığı kesin olarak bilinmemekle beraber, literatürde bildirilmiştir. Altmış beş yaşında kadın hasta, kliniğimize 2 aydır devam eden kilo kaybı, hâlsizlik, sol yan ağrısı ve gaz-gaita çıkaramama yakınmalarıyla başvurdu. Yapılan kolonoskopik incelemede proksimal kolona geçişin olmadığı ve ileusa neden olan splenik fleksura tümörü saptandı. Total kolektomi yapılan hastanın patoloji sonucunda splenik fleksurada seroza invazyonu gösteren orta derecede diferansiye adenokarsinom ve apendikste de senkron olarak iyi diferansiye nöroendokrin tümor olduğu tespit edildi. Burada sizlere insidental olarak tespit ettiğimiz kolon adenokarsinomu ve senkron apendiks nöroendokrin tümörü olgumuzu sunmayı amaçladık.
