The Sectarian Attitudes and Tendencies on the Editions of the Presidency of Religious Affairs

Abstract

The Presidency of Religious Affairs is a public institution that is responsible for carrying out the works related to Islamic religion in Turkey and enlightening the society about religion and managing of the places of worship. When considering the differences in the structure of sectarianism in Turkey, it is important that the sectarial tendencies of the Presidency of Religious Affairs about carrying out the religious services and enlightening the society. As a matter of fact, especially in the 1990s, Alavis’ demands for religious education and religious services is expressed by being emphasised the Sunni/Hanafi structure of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. In this article, the attitudes and tendencies of the institution will be discussed by considering the publications of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. In doing so, it will be tried to analyze a discourse based on publications made after the year 2000 instead of knowing the previous studies. The Presidency of Religious Affairs’ publications reach more than one thousand and two hundred in two different series. There are 318 kinds of publication in the 2017 Publication Catalogue. The Presidency is also continuing its periodical publications addressing different sections for many years. In addition, six Religious councils have been organized and their decisions have been shared with the public since 1993.

Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı, Türkiye’de İslam diniyle ilgili işleri yürütmek, toplumu din konusunda aydınlatmak ve ibadet yerlerini yönetmekle görevli bir kamu kuruluşudur. Türkiye’dekimezhebî yapının farklılığı dikkate alındığında DİB’in din hizmetlerini yürütme ve toplumu aydınlatma konusunda takındığı mezhebî eğilimleri de önem arz etmektedir. Nitekim özellikle1990’lı yıllarda Alevilerce DİB’in Sünnî/Hanefîliğine vurgu yapılarak kendilerinin de din eğitimive din hizmetleriyle ilgili talepleri dile getirilir. Bu makalede DİB yayınları üzerinden kurumunmezhebî tutum ve eğilimleri ele alınacaktır. Bunu yaparken önceki çalışmaları göz önünde tutarak malumu ilam etmek yerine 2000’li yıllardan sonra yapılan yayınları esas alan bir söylem analizine gayret edilecektir. DİB’in yayınları on ayrı seride bin iki yüzden fazla çeşitliliğe ulaşır. 2017Yayın Katalogunda ise 318 çeşit eser yer alır. Başkanlık uzun yıllardır farklı kesimlere hitap edensüreli yayınlarını da sürdürmektedir. Ayrıca 1993 yılından itibaren altı Din Şurası düzenlenerekbildiriler ve Şura kararları kamuoyuyla paylaşılmıştır.
